The process of healing.

Over the past few weeks, I have come across a total of seven tweets that talk about one thing - healing. Healing is an extremely important process to go through when you need to overcome physical, emotional and/or psychological trauma. People are often quick to suggest healing and make sure to add a deadline of three to five business days by which you are expected to have fully healed. However, nobody tells how painful and confusing the process can be. Let's compare physical and emotional healing. Just like the trauma and long recovery that come along with physical healing, we tend to forget the same happens with emotional healing. It is important to acknowledge that emotional healing can be so tricky at times. We often unintentionally confuse being distracted with being completely healed from trauma. There may be days you do not feel the pain anymore and on days like this you laugh without being reminded of the pain you feel when you are alone at night. It gets to the point where you feel like you have finally taken back control of your life. However, on some not so lucky days, you wake up not because your annoying alarm went off but because of the sudden anxiety you feel - the dry mouth, the sweating, the tight chest, the palpitations that make you feel like your heart is beating faster than normal etc. You stay up wondering how you can feel such intense physical pain from something so emotional. You listen to 'Lonely' by Noah Cyrus because it explains exactly how you feel but it does not exactly make you feel better. However, please remember just like the last day of physical therapy when the pain has stopped, your last day of emotional pain is surely going to come. It may take days, weeks, months or even years for some people but it will surely come and when it comes, you will not cry yourself to sleep. Rather, you will feel happiness, peace of mind, tranquillity and everything positive you think about when you see Jhene Aiko. You will be ready to love like never before. I look forward to this day.
